The science of archaeology meets First Nations culture in this interactive exhibition. Visitors can explore the various steps and techniques used by archaeologists to uncover the mysteries of the past. Step inside a re-creation of a longhouse and discover how archaeologists find and interpret longhouses in the archaeological record.

Our Daily Bread: Trades and Professions in Peel

The story of European settlement has recently been renewed. These galleries provide details on the lives and work of the many early settlers of Peel including shoemakers, teachers, dressmakers and blacksmiths.

A Dream Remembered: The Peel Community and the Avro Arrow
Date: Continues throughout 2008
Through archival material and first hand accounts of former employees of the A.V. Roe Company in Malton, this exhibition looks at Peel’s aircraft industry.

Arctic Zoo
Arctic Zoo highlights a collection of Inuit art recently donated to the Heritage Complex and revolves around themes of earth, water, sky and animals. The exhibition also includes an interactive area with videos and resources for visitors. The 2400 Kilometre Painting, a partnership project with local students and Inuksuk High School in Nunavut, funded by the Brampton and Area Community Foundation, will be installed in spring of 2008.

Peel Heritage Complex - Art Gallery

Ryszard Litwiniuk
Date: September 17 – October 26, 2008 (Main and Hallway Galleries; Exterior building grounds)
Mississauga based artist, Ryszard Litwiniuk, exercises an interest in spatial play and naturally occurring patterns in his scavenged stumps of wood. The artist will utilize the grounds of the Heritage Complex for the exhibition and also show a series of transparent skin prints similar in appearance to the linear whorls in the wood of his sculptures.
